Navigators, get ready for a new chapter.

We are excited to announce our switch to Proof-of-Private Stake (PoPS), with the testnet going live today. As we embark on this new path, we are taking the opportunity to refresh our identity: Goodbye Navcoin, hello Navio.

The decision to rebrand goes back to a community discussion in our Discord. Together, we’ve decided that while Navcoin has served us well over the years, in order to keep up with the rapidly evolving crypto space, a new identity was in order.

And thus, Navio was created.

At its core, Navio is about one thing: privacy. Through NAV, we are creating a Network of Anonymous Validators, picking up the torch from pioneering crypto projects and building on the principles of self-regulation and freedom from censorship and surveillance. This rebrand is a step forward for our mission, as it will help introduce more users to the bleeding edge of privacy-first cryptocurrency.

Where information rules, privacy becomes a weapon, a weapon to empower and a weapon to disarm. In Navio we see a means to wrest control of something that is already yours by right — your freedom — by shielding you from the unblinking eye of digital surveillance and simultaneously providing a robust network for digital transactions. As the world of crypto has continued to grow, it has increasingly morphed into an extension of financial hegemony, largely disregarding anonymity and the easily tracked nature of public transactions. Despite this, we are holding fast to a vision of a better future, by refining our mandatory-privacy network, with truly anonymous staking and participation, irrespective of platform, here and now.

Renaming our currency will eliminate any potential confusion among users who search for the project on DEXs. Since BSC does not allow for the removal of the wrapped Navcoin ticker, after the blockchain switch, anyone searching for ‘NAV’ will find both old and new versions, creating confusion. Therefore, changing our name to Navio will address that issue as well as improve discovery and user acquisition.

Here is the guide on how to connect to the testnet.

To recap, going forward these will be the project’s new parameters:

  1. Network: Navio
  2. Currency: NAVIO
  3. Ticker: $NAV

Note that the testnet launch will not impact the current mainnet. At this stage, a dedicated swap for $NAV, $XNAV, or $WNAV is not required. We will continue to provide updates to the community.

As we turn a new page, we have decided to create a new Discord server and migrate our community there. The old Discord will remain open temporarily, but some channels may be deleted after the transition period. Join us.

Finally, the grand finale of the rebrand will culminate with the launch of our new website. To the future!

Stay up to date with Navio’s progress by following us on Twitter, Telegram and Discord.
